Scores of Be Forward Wanderers supporters on Tuesday flocked to Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre to watch Japanese player Genki Nakamura’s first day of his two-week trials.

The fans left the stadium satisfied after the player displayed some scintillating touches—scoring two goals and winning a penalty—during the morning training session.

The striker’s swift touches were good enough to impress coach Elia Kananji who described the player as gifted..

Akuwoneka kuti ndi wampira [he seems to be talented],” Kananji said on his first impression of the player.

But the coach was quick to add that he still needed time to thoroughly assess the player.

“Some players come with a bang. But as time goes, they end up faltering. We need more time to have a look at him and see if he maintains the momentum,” said Kananji.

“Last year it was the same with some Nigerian players who came to Wanderers. They started very well, but the performance dwindled with time.”

Meanwhile, Wanderers have released defending midfielder Jacob Ngwira and striker Victor Nyirenda as free agents.

Ngwira has since been linked with a move to Mozambique side Desportivo de Maputo.

The player is expected to leave for the Mozambican capital this Friday according to his agent Ken Giggs.

“Since he is a free agent, it will not be difficult to negotiate for his transfer,” Giggs said. “It’s now up to him to impress the technical panel when he arrives here for the trials.”

Giggs is also behind Wanderers goalkeeper Richard Chipuwa’s move to Tete Province side Chingare FC.
