Tnm Super League sleeping giants, Silver Strikers, have joined a queue of clubs interested in signing TP Mazembe unsettled midfielder, Joseph Kamwendo.

The former Flames captain is training with Be Forward Wanderers while pushing for an exit from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) giants.

Recently, Kamwendo indicated that he would not return to DRC despite having three years remaining on his contract with the 2015 Caf Champions League winners.

Inside sources at Silver confirmed that the former Orlando Pirates midfielder was in Lilongwe over the weekend to meet Silver officials over the possibility of securing a deal.

“Yes, Silver is one of the clubs monitoring his situation. We desperately need him after losing some key players to Mozambique. We believe that his experience would be vital for the team,” said the source.

Silver general secretary, Chimwemwe Mkhwimba, Sunday dismissed the reports linking them to Kamwendo as mere speculation.

The Central Bankers are also interested in signing Nyasa Big Bullets’ Chiukepo Msowoya, Jaffalie Chande and Wanderers promising defender, Stanley Sanudi.

Wanderers general secretary, Mike Butao, disclosed on Sunday that discussions with Mazembe are progressing.

“We approached them and they said they will come back to us. Joseph is a true leader, and he motivates his team-mates when he is on the pitch. It is our hope that Mazembe will give us a go ahead to sign him,” Butao explained.

Kamwendo on Sunday claimed it was normal for him to be linked with many teams in the domestic transfer window.

“I am a Mazembe player for now, but training with Wanderers. I made it clear that for now I am here, so I can’t comment on who is interested in me for now,”Kamwendo said.

Kamwendo, who had spells at Norsdsjaelland in Denmark, Caps United in Zimbabwe, Vasco Da Gama and Pirates in South Africa, is also linked with a return to Mozambican side, Malcumana.

Meanwhile, Silver have transfer-listed seven players deemed to be surplus to requirements.

Mkhwimba on Sunday confirmed the release of the seven, including Mabvuto Khozomba, Dailesi Yasin, Blessings Banda, Davie Moya, Ndaona Daisi, Kondwani Chirwa and John Banda.

However, the club has reversed its decision to fire experienced attackers Rodrick Gonani and Peter Pindani following the departure of Green Harawa, Ndaziona Chatsalira and Peter Wadabwa.

Lazarus Nyemera, who was also linked with a move to Mzuni FC, will be part of Silver.
