Former Flames captain Joseph Kamwendo has revealed that he is on a verge of for finding a new club and will not be going back to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Kamwendo pointed out yesterday that he is still contracted to African club champions TP Mazembe- which put him on loan to another DRC side Don Bosco; he wants to start a new lease of life elsewhere.

“The thing is Mazembe loaned me to Don Bosco for a year, but after spending three months with them, I asked them to offer me a loan contract which they refused.

“When Mazembe loaned me out to Don Bosco, there was no formal loan deal. To me, it was about proving a point which I believe did by scoring vital goals and providing assists in the three months that I have been with them. Now, it was time for serious business. But it appears they (Don Bosco) are not willing and I guess I have to move on,” he said.

The former Mighty Wanderers midfielder said although he has three years remaining on his contract, he cannot return to Mazembe because he is not on their plans.

“ I am looking for another team that will sign me on loan and offer me a short-term contract which Don Bosco are not prepared to do.

“As a family man, there is no way I can be playing without a contract. What happens in case of an injury? Who will be liable? So yes, for me I will not return to DRC.”

Kamwendo, who had stints with Nordsjaelland in Denmark, Orlando Pirates in South Africa and Liga Maculmana in Mozambique, said he is currently weighing options and did not rule out the possibility of signing for a local team.

“I am just taking my time, but very soon I will come out to announce my next destination. Maculmana knows my situation and we are still talking, so let us see how it goes. If nothing comes, then am not worried because Malawi is my home.”
