Sports Field are the Northern Region Pool Bonanza champions.
The Zolozolo-based side put up an impressive performance to outsmart 12 teams that participated in the competition held at Chenda Hotel in Mzuzu on Saturday.
They defeated Kashololo 3-2 to win the tournament.
To make it to the final, they beat hosts Chenda Pool Club 3-0.
“I am extremely happy for the win, we did not expect this considering that we played without some of our key players,” said Sports Field captain Madalitso Phiri after the final game.
The competition was sponsored by Malawi Pool Association (Mapa) to the tune of K350 000.
Sports Field got K150 000 while Kashololo received K100 000 for being the runners-up.
The third team, Patuma Pool Club, got K50 000.
Speaking during prize presentation Mapa chairperson Chikondi Mbewe reminded pool players to remain disciplined so as to attract the attention of many sponsors.
He said sponsors can only come when the players are disciplined during the competitions.
“I am happy that the competition has ended well. No fights were registered. I am encouraging you to sustain such conduct.
“It is clear that we can get more support if we display such good behaviour,” he said.
Northern Region Pool League chairperson Mathews Munthali urged teams that participated in the tournament to continue working hard.
“I am satisfied with the way teams competed in the tournament. This is very encouraging; every team demonstrated the need to grab the championship. I am urging the teams to do the same in other competitions,” said Munthali.
