The COSAFA Castle Cup will soon start which will take place in Namibia, dated from June 11-25.
The Malawi national team (Flames) is in group B where Flames is drawn against Angola, Mauritus, and Lesotho.
While in Group A, there is Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Seychelles and Madagascar.
The tournament in this group stages will be in a knockout format until the winners emerge.
Holders and hosts Namibia begin the defence of their title with a tricky quarterfinal clash against Botswana, while Zambia and South Africa will face the winners of first round Groups A and B respectively.
Therefore, according to such draw, Group B winners will face South Africa in the quarter-finals.
However, the last year’s runner-up teams such as Mozambique and Botswana will also just start in quarterfinals.
DR Congo is featured as guest nation which will meet Mozambique in these quarterfinal stages.
Despite that Flames have never won the cup since its inception in 1997; the coach of the team, Ernest Mtawali has described the draw as fair.
“Although there are no longer underdogs in international football, I believe it is a fair draw. Our target is to reach the finals and win the cup,” he said.
