Paris-Saint Germain which was the host made a draw 2-2 to the Manchester City in UEFA Champions League quarterfinal first leg.
The PSG being the host of this game, people had vast of expectations that City had to sweat blood in order to be on safe side. However, the game gave different pictures to these expectations.
With two away goals, Manchester City holds the upper hand ahead of the second leg, particularly as yellow cards for Blaise Matuidi and David Luiz mean the duo are suspended for the return fixture in England.
City was playing in the quarterfinals of the competition for the first time in its history, rode its luck with Ibrahimovic’s header striking the crossbar as PSG poured forward.
But with 18 minutes remaining, Fernandinho took advantage of some woeful defending by Serge Aurier and sent a rather meek effort into the far corner.
“The quarterfinal continues to be open,” Manuel Pellegrini, the City manager said.
“We must now play 90 minutes in Manchester but this is a good result for us. We made a couple of important mistakes for the first goal and the second goal was offside.
“In the first half, if we want to win, we cannot make those kinds of mistakes. But we are trying to win the game from the first minute; it is the way we play.”
