Silver Strikers on Sunday twisted the story of unbeaten giants of TNM Super league, Blue Eagles after beating them 2-1 in a match played at the Silver Stadium.
This has marked the first time for the Eagles to drop points after winning all their opening six games in this league season.
Eagles defeat comes barely few days after they knocked the Bankers out of the ongoing Presidential Cup by 4-2 through post match penalties.
Silver Strikers coach Lovemore Fazili expressed excitement after the final game in Sunday encounter, however he confessed that it was not an easy game.
“The game was very difficult only that we put much effort. Everything we told the players they managed to do. “It is not easy, it is a tough season but we will fight hard to collect more points in our next assignments. The battle is still on and we need to fight up to the end,” he said.
On his part Blue Eagles Team Manager Gabriel Chirwa accepted the defeat. “Yes indeed the unbeaten run has ended today but we still have time and we don’t lose hope. They created several chances that is why they managed to get goals”, said Chirwa.
The Eagles still remain at the summit of the log table with 18 points while Silver have moved to second position.
