The rumors were putting about that Malawi national Team (Flames) should boat a bus to Zimbabwe for the Africa cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers against Zimbabwe Warriors has been brushed aside as Flames will go by airplane.
Once was registered through Football Association of Malawi that the Flames would travel by road to Zimbabwe via Botswana due to financial constraints. To take advantage over that route, the team would play a strength testing match on the Saturday before proceeding to Harare.
With the fear that this friendly match cannot take place as the team will not use road way, the coach of Flames, Enerst Mtawali said is trying to make it to be kicked off.
However, Government today has told FAM that it must source funds in its own way for the friendly match in Botswana.
The Government has already exhausted its effort to support Flames through an option of flying to Zimbabwe as the road to Mozambique could be risky due to underway conflict between ruling Mozambique Liberation Front (Frelimo) and National Resistance (Renamo) rebels. Recently Four Malawians were attacked through the same road on their way from South Africa.
