It has been almost over two weeks when provisional squad of Malawi National Team (Flames) was called where some experienced players were left out for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Zimbabwe and COSAFA cup games scheduled for Namibia later in June.
Ernest Kakhobwe and Pilirani Zonda were among other key players left out but with their current performance make them to be featured into squad at late stage.
Kakhobwe who has replaces John Soko showed remarkable performance in recent matches. for example, in the presidential cup last week, where Nyasa Big Bullets were facing Blue Eagles, he saved his side in penalty shootout. Kakhobwe saved three penalties on target which made his name to be the talk of that day.
General secretary of FAM, Suzgo Nyirenda said that the National team coach Ernest Tawali has decided to take Kakhobwe due to his good performance.
“The coach decided to make the changes following kakhobwe’s performance,” he said.
The general secretary of Super League of Malawi, William Banda has confirmed that Nyasa Big Bullets now has contributed 8 players to Flames squad which could make the team not to play other leagues.
The Mighty Be forward Wanderers is also going not to participate in current leagues and cups as the team also has contributed 5 players to National team.
This is not something strange since according to Football Association of Malawi (Flames) constitution indicates that every team which send players to national team more than three should take break in playing national leagues and cups .
