Football Association of Malawi (FAM) imposed a ban on Be Forward Wanderers not to use Elia Kananji as head coach.
Kananji does not have any qualification that would suit him to operate in that office. According to FAM, Kananji does not have a confederation of African Football (CAF) B coaching licence which is minimum qualification set for Super League coaches.
The development has come due to recent reshuffle in Wanderers for sacking Jack Chamangwana of his coaching role and reinstating Elias Kananji as head coach to be assisted by the team’s technical development manager Eddingtone Ng’onamo.
The letter which was written by FAM through their general secretary Suzgo Nyirenda dated May 19 2016 has warned the Wanderers that their move is inviting a fine which sums up to k500 000 plus deduction of points in TNM Super League if they continue with that.
However, Wanderers general secretary Mike Butao said that they got communication from the super league (Sulom) to the effect that the minimum qualification requirement would only be enforced after the first round.
Therefore, he further confirmed that they are going to check with the Sulom general secretary, if that mould no any positive result, they will start using Ng’onomo as head coach.
