The current development shows that Malawi National Team (Flames) Coach Enerst Mtawali has dropped goalkeeper Enerst Kakhobwe, Muhammad Sulumba, Pilirani Zonda, and he has also recalled Goalkeepers Brighton Munthali in new named squad for the 2016 COSAFA Castle Cup.
Coach Ernest Mtawali has set his sights on the title this year as has called up big names in this strong squad with plenty of COSAFA Castle Cup experience, such as Joseph Kamwendo and Harry Nyirenda.
Not only that but he has also included South Africa-based Limbikani Mzava, Gerald Phiri and Gabadinho Mhango, John Banda, as well Chiukepo Msowoya and Peter Wadabwa.
However, the dropping and recalling some players in this squad has raised several questions about credibility of this coach.
Meanwhile the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has refuted the rumor of removal of Sulumba, Kakhobwe and Zonda in squad.
But in squad, published on Cosafa’s website, 5 June around 2 pm, shows that Coach Mtawali has omitted the names of these players.
