Malawi National Football and Netball teams have received hard brow in 2016/17 National budget as their allocation has been deducted by almost 68 percent.
In the last year budget, Flames was given k100 million while the Queens received k101 million while in this year, the undergoing parliament sitting, the teams have been allocated k32 million each.
Following that poor development, the Dowa East Member of Parliament (MP) Richard Chimwendo-Banda, of Malawi Congress Party has asked the Ministry of Finance to give Ministry of sports and Culture enough services.
The MP further attributed the failures for Flames on international scene to poor funding.
“The Flames have been failing to participate in so many tournaments and they have been not well prepared as well due to lack of resources. That is why our national team is not doing very well,” he said.
The Football Association of Malawi president Walter Nyamilandu has also confirmed the development and he has said that the reduced budget definitely will force the team to withdraw from all tournaments.
