The Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) has disclosed the Under -21 national netball team has started camp training in preparation for the African Youth Netball Championship that set in Botswana next month.
NAM expects the junior Queens to do well at this tournament prior to newly appointed coach Mary Waya.
Former Queens international athlete is the new Coach for the team following the void left by Connice Mhone’s death earlier this year, NAM General Secretary Carol Bapu said they have high hopes that the team will do well despite taking long to appoint a new coach.
“We have set targets for the new technical team. And that is taking the team to the finals of the competition. We have no doubts that the team will make us proud in Botswana,” said Bapu.
Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) executive secretary George Jana said that despite the economic crisis in the country, they have secured the funds for the Junior Queens’s camp training.
Meanwhile, Bapu has confirmed that the team currently in camp preparing for the Botswana competition is scheduled to leave the country on 14July.
