Malawi national football team (Flames) coach is now Burundian Ramadhan who has been deputy for newly fired coach Enerst Mtawali.
Many Malawians, include legislators were in thinking of government should hire a foreign and skilled coach who could help the Flames to do better in coming tournaments.
On Tuesday Sports and Culture minister Grace Chiumia was asked in parliament of what she thinks of hiring the foreign coach.
However she has ruled out the hiring of an expatriate football coach despite the Flames persistent poor performance, saying the government is too broke to pay a foreign tutor.
“As of now, we have our local coach Enerst Mtawali whose contract expires after a month so as government we do not have plans to hire an expatriate coach who is very expensive,” said Chiumia.
According Football Association of Malawi (FAM) the contract of Mtawali could not be renewed as Flames were not of Mtawali’s uncoordinated choice of players during tournaments and has accused him of not consulting the technical team when appointing a national
