Now that Malawi Professional Boxing Control Board (MPBCB) which is full of muscular men, giant boxers has joined in fight against attacks on people living with albinism, maybe the change will be seen.
MPBCB scheduled the middle-weight title fight between champion, Brian Mwando and challenger Charles Misanjo, at Robins Park in Blantyre on Saturday.
Speaking at the bout, MPBCB President Lonzoe Zimba said the boxing fraternity was equally concerned with the attacks on people living with albinism.
“We denounce and condemn these horrible acts. We will work jointly with all stakeholders, including Association of Persons with Albinism in Malawi (Apam) in the fight against the abductions, killings and exhumation of remains of persons with albinism,” he said.
“If this fight is to be successful, we need to report suspects to the police,” he said.
The Malawi Boxing Association (Maba) President, Justice Katika also came and witnessed the bout that depicted the fight against abductions and killings of albinos.
