Zomba-based Magang’a and Lady Bravehearts from Lilongwe were both on Sunday night emerged the giants of the Courts Basketball Tournament’s champions for men’s and ladies’ categories, respectively.
Magang’a made their journey to champions after defeating Bricks 68-38 at Civo Basketball Court, as Lady Bravehearts overpowers Angels at the same venue.
For being champions, Magang’a received K800, 000, gold medals and a trophy, whereas Bricks got K400, 000 and silver medals.
Bravehearts pocketed K500, 000, gold medals and a trophy, whereas second-placed Angels received K200, 000 and medals.
Magang’a coach-player, Hope Chisamanga, was pleased with the victory, saying team-work was the key to their success.
However, the runner up coach-player Victor Jere admitted the defeat and hailed the players for playing well.
“It was a bad night for us but our opponents played well. We tried everything but we could not cope up with their pace,” he said.
