Despite the poor record Wizards FC keeps registering in TNM Super League, they have booted the super league leaders, Blue Eagles out of the 2016 Carlsberg Cup.

Wizards beat the cops 2-1 in a game played on Wednesday at Surestream stadium in Blantyre.

The cops scored first through Gilbert Chirwa who found the back of the net in the 13th minute. Wizards equalised in the same first half through Hendrix Misinde.

Blue Eagles panicked in the second half which granted Misinde  a chance to get a second goal 13 minutes before the final whistle.

Wizard’s technical director Peter Mponda praised his boys for the victory and for making it proceed into the round of 16.

“We didn’t play as much as we wanted, we have grabbed a result today. I wish this was a league game, but since we fought hard we deserved a victory,” said Mponda.

While team manager for Blue Eagles Gabriel Chirwa has accepted the defeat and said that his side failed to utilise the chances that were created hence the loss.
