Kukoma Diamonds have stunned Tigresses on Saturday  as they on the way to reclaim the Rainbow Paints Southern Region Netball League championship.

Diamonds landed at Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC) in good moods and team spirit as lions ready as  they humbled rivals, Tigresses, 52-37.

Following the win, Diamonds assistant coach, Noel Mussa, warned the players not to get too excited with the result.

“The win was as a result of good preparations and a game-plan which was well executed by the players. However, this is only the first round,” he said.

Tigresses coach, Peace Chawinga-Kaluwa, promised to bounce back.

“We had problems in two areas but we will work on them. We need to win all our games by good margins,” she said.

During the game, Diamonds led in the first quarter13-9 before increasing the lead to 28-18 at half time.

In the third quarter, Diamonds increased the lead to 41-27.

Diamonds introduced record signing, Annabel Phiri, in the final quarter and she had a memorable game.

with the win, Diamonds caught up with the leaders, Tigresses, at 15 points each.

Diamonds have won the GOtv Netball Champions League, Presidential Trophy and the Airtel Money Trophy at the expense of Tigresses.
