Malawi Defence Force (MDF) boxer, Wilson Masamba promises to a new start in his boxing career as he is going to face a Tanzanian , Muddy ‘Machine’ Elia, in Lilongwe this weekend.
The renowned ex-featherweight champion has recently suffered several defeats away from home.
It all started with a loss to Tanzanian Jones Segu where Masamba failed to endure in ring, would not even reach sixth round.
Masamba run in another defeat before he banned in February for allegedly undermining Malawi Professional Boxing Control Board’s hierarchy.
However, speaking in an interview ahead of the fight at M1 Centre Point in Lilongwe, Masamba has promised to start afresh.
“I want to open with my fans. It has been tough. I don’t want to make excuses. Time will come when I will reveal factors that contributed to my downfall,” he said.
The Tanzanian has 15 wins, a draw and three defeats whereas Masamba has 34 wins, a draw and six defeats.
