Kenya-based, Chisomo Kajamu, has been crowned Mr Ulaya Classic Body Building Competition champion at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe on Saturday night after demonstrating his skills impressively.
The Vice-President, Saulos Chilima, who was the guest of honour at occasion has hailed Kajamu who is also a Daystar University (Kenya) fourth-year student has outclassed Mr Malawi champion, Henry Master.
Kajamu pocketed a cool K1million for emerging the champion. Emanuel Muhuwa came second whereas Master claimed third-spot.
It was a bad night for Malawi’s celebrated body builder, Yasin Ichocho Suwedi, who was eliminated in the early stages of the competition.
In his victory speech, Kajamu said determination and hard work were keys to his success.
“I had self-belief that I will make it, but it was not an easy contest,” Kajamu said.
Chilima appealed to Malawians to embrace the culture of physical exercises.
“I am a true believer in exercising because any type of a work-out, whether weightlifting, jogging or aerobics clears our mind and improves our physical and mental health,” Chilima explained.
“A healthy mind leads to a healthy family and a health family translates into a healthy nation.”
Chairperson of the organisers, Charles Ulaya, described the event as a success.
