Mwawi Kumwenda’s former New Zealand team, Mainland Tactix shooter has signed for Australian giants, Melbourne Vixens.
After three-year contract with Tactix, Kumwenda signs a two-year deal with the Australian giants.
Netball Mainland Chief Executive, Brigit Hearn, told the club’s website that she received an e-mail from Mwawi’s agent, advising that she won’t be back.
Hearn has confused that she is disappointed that Mwawi had opted against staying and playing in the New Zealand domestic league.
“We needed her to stay, give her a substantial offer but we are disappointed to lose someone of the skills and personality of Mwawi – we wish her every success for the future,” said Hearn.
“Mwawi has become an integral part of our Tactix family and Mainland community and we have enjoyed getting to know and understand more about her Malawian culture.”— Stuff newspaper, New Zealand.
