The Four Malawian boxers, Chimwemwe Chiotcha, Limbani Masamba, Charles Misanjo and Chikondi Makawa who  left the country for international fights in Namibia, they all defeated on.

The others defeated but the only hope remain was the Malawi Defence Force boxer, Chimwemwe Chiotcha’s  who also defeated on Saturday, failed to win the World Boxing Organisation-Africa middleweight title against Namibia, Walter Kautondokwa.

Chiotcha retired in round 10 at Windhoek Country Club.

It was also a familiar story for his compatriots, Chikondi Makawa, Charles Misanjo and Limbani Masamba.

No Pain No Gain Boxing Promotions’ Managing Director, Craig Rousseau, claimed that Chiotcha retired due to his opponent’s fouls.

“It was a real brawl as Walter never allows his opponents to pass round four. Chiotcha fought against a strong boxer, but he was hit with hard punches on the back of his head and neck. His neck was affected, so he had to stop to avoid an injury,” he said.

In another fight— a six-rounder—Masamba lost to Jatoorora Tjingaveta on a split points’ decision in a welterweight non-title fight whereas Misanjo lost to Emmanuel Mungandjala in another six-round non-title welterweight contest.

Chikondi Makawa also lost.

However, Rousseau claimed that Limbani was robbed of victory.

“Limbani was totally robbed of victory. He lost on a split [points’] decision and some fans even booed when the result was announced,” he said.
