Two renowned referees, Andy Kuseli and Jones Chimeza have been suspended for two months over suspension failing to control the TNM Super League second round match between Nyasa Big Bullets and Azam Tigers a fortnight ago.
Football Association of Malawi’s (Fam) Referees’ Sub-committee has confirmed the development and said that during the game played at Kamuzu Stadium, Tigers were denied a goal controversially whereas Bullets’ strong penalty appeals were also turned down.
The situation stirred up anger among Bullets’ supporters as they started behaving insanity until Police fired teargas to scatter them.
Kuseli who was the referee while Chimeza was the first assistant referee were found guilty of failing to control the actions of both teams, this determination was made over a meeting held at Fam’s Mpira Village over the weekend.
The referees are yet to comment on the development.
