After the expiry of Malawi national women’s football team coaches in November last year, there has been nothing concrete concerning renewal of their contracts by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM).
The team is coached by Maggie Chombo-Sadik and DD Sunshine coach Andrew Chikhosi as an Assistant Coach.
Speaking to a leading local Newspaper, FAM Vice President, James Mwenda, said their performance will be reviewed by FAM’s Youth and Technical Committee very soon before jumping into conclusion.
“It is not automatic that they will be retained but the decision will be made by the committee during the meeting,” Mwenda told the Paper.
Chombo refused to comment much on her situation, and said it is up to FAM to decide whether to extend their contracts or not.
“I do not have much to say because it depends on what they will decide. But I was humbled to work as coach of the team. I believe that I tried my best despite several challenges,” she said.
Chombo replaced former Be Forward Wanderers coach Stuart Mbolembole for a two-year-deal in 2016.
