In his speech Mpoola thanked Nico Life for sponsoring the tournament.

“It was a great tournament. I enjoyed my golf though it was windy. I just played my usual golf and tried to enjoy it as much as I could. It’s great to have won against some of the best golfers in the land,” he said.

On her part, Wakadiwa-Matura said: “My playing partners were all men and I guess this encouraged me to play on their level. I am so happy to have won today. Many thanks to Nico Life.”

The tournament drew golfers from Blantyre, Lilongwe, Kasungu and Dwangwa.

Nico Life chief executive officer Eric Chapola described the golf as a success.

“The turnout was excellent. It was a full course.  Golf is a medium to associate with business captains. We believe now we have captured the Lilongwe market. It’s a development area for our business,” he said.

Chapola also briefed golfers on new product Tilinanu Funeral policy.

“This is an individual policy which can be purchased by any eligible individual. The policy pays up to K1 million in case of death. The minimum premium is K800 per month. A member who buys this policy can add a spouse plus four children and also four parents plus six extended members,” he said.

Nico Life also donated K300 000 towards maintenance of the golf course.

LGC captain Brigadier General ChikunkhaSoko described the tournament as a big success.
