
One of the leading mobile operators, Airtel Malawi has announced a comeback in football sponsorship in the country.
Airtel stopped sponsoring Airtel Top 8 cup following violence that marred a final match between Blue Eagles and Nyasa Big Bullets.
The Violence saw Nyasa Big Bullets being banned from the CUP for one year.
Airtel Malawi Managing Director, Charles Kamoto, made the announcement today in Blantyre.
Kamoto said the competition’s sponsorship has been increased from K198 million to K234 million for a period of three years.
Kamoto also announced that champions will be pocketing K17 million,up from K15 million.
